St. Peter’s on-the-Rock is a historic place of worship located on its own unique island in the heart of central Ontario cottage country. St. Peter's traces its origins to the late 1880s, the earliest days of summer recreational residency, when families traveled by train, carriage and steamboat to enjoy the curative freshwater experience of rustic life as campers and cottagers in the Kawartha Lakes.
Through the entire summer season, we gather on Sunday mornings to celebrate Christian worship in a beautiful 110-year-old wood frame church amidst the natural wonders of Stony Lake. We are reachable only by boat – whether by canoe or motorboat – but our “front door” is directly on the main highway of Ontario’s famous Trent-Severn National Waterway.
As a seasonal summer church, St. Peter’s is a formal parish in the Diocese of Toronto of the Anglican Church of Canada – but numbers among its many adherents, cottagers and visitors of all religious denominations, and of none. We are an inclusive faith community and ALL are welcome!
