Toad-in-a-hole

1 slice bread
1 tbsp butter or margarine
1 egg
salt and pepper

Remove centre from bread with biscuit cutter.  Brown bread in butter on one side, then turn.  Slip egg into "hole".  Cook egg to desired firmness.  Season to taste.
