A Taste of Canada: Alberta Beef and Alberta Steak

Happy Canada Day everyone!

You know how much I love lists.  I'm in the process of trying to taste everything in the A Taste of Canada Challenge.

Saturday night my favourite restaurant, Rail City Bistro, served a truly Canadian special.  I actually ignored the potato and veggies to make sure I ate every bite of my steak.

"CANADA DAY is coming, and this week-end Friday June 28th and Sat June 29th we are featuring some food from Canada. Our app is a smoked salmon poutine, with goats cheese, creamy dill sauce, topped with capers and green onion. Salmon of course is hot smoked in house. Main is a tender 10oz Ribeye steak dinner with veggies and your choice of potato. Dessert is homemade chocolate brownies with a spiced blueberry sauce."

It was delicious!

According to D'Arcy's Meat Market"Lifelong Albertans may take it for granted, but the beef produced in this province is recognized around the world for its rich taste and consistent quality. Of course, beef does not start at the butcher’s counter– all meat begins as an animal raised with care by a rancher on Mother Nature’s land. There is more to Alberta beef than just taste and quality . . . "
