Name Dropping: Steve Matthews

I never really got to know my cousin, Steve.  He's older than I am.  When I was a preteen and teen he was MUCH OLDER than I was . . . LOL . . . You know what I mean.  I thought he was so cool, especially the day he called my dad a bad name.  How BAD is that!?  I spent a lot of time bragging to my equally young and impressionable girlfriends that I had a cousin who was a DJ on the radio.

We've only run into each other a couple of times over the years but I've kept track of his world travels in the local newspaper and over the last couple of years on Facebook.  I no longer think he is cool or bad . . . I know he is.

So there . . . I know someone who is on a magazine cover.

These tightly curled coils are ostrich fern fronds. They start appearing in late April and early May in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and are usually found in forests, marshes and by rivers and streams. Taste-wise, fiddleheads, which are popular amongst food foragers, are...
