Yes, I really am scrapbooking . . .

I cracked open a couple of packs of Basic Grey the other night at Other Pam's . . . Porcelain and Marrakesh . . . and really scrapbooked . . . really . . . not for a class or a display or any other reason than the absolute pleasure of cutting and pasting.

Yesterday I carved an stamp and made LTCs for a swap. The stamp is supposed to resemble the front of the CASO station.

Who knows what I'll get up to next.
See ya

The rest of my life

I have been calling March 15th the first day of the rest of my life . . . The last day the store was open . . . we had a mother/daughter crop . . . and Connie earned her Doctorate in Scrapology.

On the second day of the rest of my life we went to the Royal Ontario Museum, the CN Tower and supper at Braxton's where we were entertained by Corbin the magician.

On the third day we went shopping and letterboxing in the Toronto area. On the fourth day we taught at a local day camp.

On the fifth day we babysit the grandsons and then went to a Chili Cook Off. So many lovely chilis to choose from.

And here are the winners . . .

On the sixth day we went to see the Tundra Swans and went letterboxing with the grandsons and then I spent the evening in my jammies at Other Pam's scrapbooking . . . real scrapbooking . . .

On the seventh day I worked on the apartment and my new crop space. On the eighth, we cleaned all day and went to Deb & John's for supper . . . yummy!!!!!! On the ninth day of the rest of my life I worked on the apartment all day and went to our kids' for supper . . . mmmmmmmmmmm . . . manicotti . . . On the tenth day I took one grandson to the dentist, worked out, fixed Hal's EI claim and taught 17 Pathfinders how to make a mini album. On the eleventh day I worked on my crop space, made a series of LTCs and went to a potluck supper with my Red Hat buddies.

And today is day 12 . . . I've been on a roadtrip with some dear friends . . . now I'm going to do some work around the apartment and I'll be at the store for a couple of hours tonight.

Tomorrow will be my busiest day of all (so far):

1. Brain Freeze Class: Gallon, Quart, Ounce at 10 am
2. Open House at 1 - 3 pm
3. Online Crop from 6 pm to midnight

I hope you can join in on at least one of these events.

Saturday should be fun. I'm hosting a Crop Circle at 1 pm. I hope you can join in. Don't forget, recipe page swaps are due on Saturday. I'll be going to a friends to crop Saturday night . . . that's right . . . more scrapbooking.

So what have you been up to?

See ya
Pam

What's Next?

Hi!

I will be at the store Thursday (March 19) from 9 am – 11 am and Saturday (March 21) from noon – 2 pm if you need anything – to pick up an order, look at some of the furniture and fixtures for sale, or just to say hi. Sales are cash only.

I haven’t made a decision about the online store . . . yet . . .

. . . but I am going to continue teaching and look forward to any opportunity. Please keep me in mind for your crop or girls’ night. I especially enjoy teaching beginners.

I will continue to teach some favourite classes here in my new home studio.

Friday, March 27 @ 10 am: Brain Freeze – Gallon, Quart, Ounce.

Saturday, March 28 @ 1 pm: Crop Circle
Also on Saturday, the Recipe Page Swap is due.

I still have a few things to take care of, like declaring a winner in the organization challenge. I have a box of great product tucked away for the winner. I will try and get that taken care of by the weekend.

I hope to continue creating page kits. And of course we will continue with some of our favourite swaps and clubs.

All our Yahoo and Facebook forums and my blogs will remain open. I will send out a newsletter once a month to let everyone know what classes are available.

Thanks so much for the past 4 years. It’s been amazing.

See ya,
Pam Hedden

A little repair and renovation . . .

Since we are starting to see signs of spring and the high waters are starting to recede, we chose today to go check on two letterboxes we were sure we had lost due to the flood waters. But . . . I guess it pays to pack carefully when you letterbox in Canada . . . lol . . . we seal our stamp, log book and ink pad in a plastic bag, pack in a waterproof container and then wrap in another plastic bag.

The Onion in the Sky was found all in one piece with some lovely new stamped images and notes in it. There was a hole in the exterior plastic bag and a tiny amount of water was inside it. But none of the water made it into the actual letterbox. Not bad considering it was in a puddle of water. We've pulled it for repair and will try to replant tomorrow . . . as long as the creek don't rise again . . .

That Dam Letterbox didn't fare as well. It was broken and soaked through . . . off course the flood waters in that area were so high a couple of weeks ago that the park pavillions were over half submerged. So to find it in the actual place we'd hidden it and in repairable condition was truly awesome. We've pulled it for repair and will try to replant tomorrow. The log book was soaked but still legible so we cut out the stamped pages and laid them out carefully to dry. I think they are going to be okay.

We actually stood where that clump of rushes are skipping stones last summer.

I can't remember the last time the spring thaw caused so much flooding around here!!

We made these handy holders today for all the members of the Big Blue Team to hold our personal stamps and log books for the May Meet up.

The Big Blue Team is hosting an event

"The Lass that Loved a Sailor" Letterboxing Meet Up
May 1 - 3, 2009
St. Thomas, Ontario

Please join us for a day or two or three -- whichever works for you. We promise to keep you entertained and letterboxing in some very beautiful areas including Downtown St. Thomas, Old Talbot Street, Pinafore Park and areas further afield.

Tentative schedule of events:

Friday
7 pm: Meet & greet, getting settled, late night letterboxing

Saturday
10 am: Registration at Pinafore Park, swaps, goodie bags, workshops, letterboxing
1 pm: Pot luck lunch, group photo, door prizes, more letterboxing
7 pm: Supper and social at a local restaurant (location to be decided when we see the number of people wishing to attend)

Sunday:
11 am: letterboxing

There will be three series of boxes planted. One will be in Pinafore Park, One will be a historic walking tour or St. Thomas, One will be for those of you who enjoy driving to picturesque locales in the area.

Clue packages will be provided when your team registers.

We would love some help with a few things:
1. someone interested in teaching a workshop of simple stamp carving
2. people interested in donating hand-carved stamps to be planted for this event.

If you would like to plant letterboxes while you are visiting us, we would be absolutely thrilled.

We will provide more details as plans are finalized.

See you on the trail,
The Big Blue Team
